George W. Coder, Co A

George Washington Coder was born on September 23, 1839 in Ross County, Ohio. He enlisted in Company A, 18th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in August, 1861. He is listed as a private in Company A at the age of 22. He married Eliza Abbott on December 11, 1864 and they had eight children. They were Evalyn (who died in infancy),Nellie Dankert, Thmas M. Coder, William Coder, Edna Dawson, George A. Coder, C. L. Coder, and Mrs. W. E. (Addie) Conrad.

George was a charter member of the Paddy Shields Post No. 36 of the Grand Army of the Republic.

George died on February 11, 1915 and buried February 12 in the Maud Christian Church cemetery in Maud, Missouri.
