![]()
William F. Quigley died on September 24, 1876 in Ward Township, Hocking County, just a few short years after his service in the Civil War. Born in Mobile, Alabama on January 20, 1847, he served as a First Lieutenant in Company G, 18th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. His death in the Hocking county death index iis listed as an accident so it is naturally assumed that since he was listed as a laborer in the coal mines that he died in a mining accident. Subsequent research may be found to bear this out.
Quigley was married to Mary (Unknown) and the following children are listed: Nancy, Gertrude, William or Walter, Maud, and Jessie. Maud and Gertie died in 1888 of typhoid in Ward Township, Hocking County and Walter died in 1905 at the age of 37.
Willilam and Mary are buried in the Fort Street Cemetery in Nelsonville, Athens County, Ohio.
