Harrison Wade, Co F

 

Harrison Wade was born on April 1, 1841 in Guernsey County, Ohio. His father was Henson H. Wade from Fairfax County, Virginia. His mother was Mariah Thomas of Washington County, Pennsylvania. Family history reports that Harrsion was also called Henson Harrison. Harrison had three brothers, Henry, William, and Thomas H. as well as one sister, Margaret.

Harrison along with his brothers enlisted in Company F under Captain John Jumper on August 15, 1861 and was assigned to the 18th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, arriving at Camp Wool on the 15th of September, 1861. He served throughout the campaigns of 1862-63 and was mustered out with his company on November 9, 1864 at the end of his three years service.

After returning from the war, Harrison married Mary A. Hale (born in Monroe County on February 17, 1845) in Morgan County, February 18, 1876. They were blessed with 6 children all of which were born in Morgan County. Flora born on January 19, 1877, Charles born in 1879, Effie on October 1, 1881, Melissa born on February 27, 1884, Sadie on October 10, 1886, and finally Louisa born on February 14, 1890. Mary preceeded Harrison in death on January 24, 1896 of Lung Fever. Harrison died May 15, 1899.
